Nohara family
Shinnosuke Nohara (野原 しんのすけ Nohara Shinnosuke) "Shin"
Voiced by: Akiko Yajima (Japanese), Laura Bailey (English)
He is the main character, a kindergarten-aged boy whose antics are the basis for the series. His affectionate name is Shin-chan. He is 5 years old and loves chocolate biscuits, especially "Chocobi" and a TV superhero named "Action Kamen", but he absolutely hates green peppers. He is attracted to older girls and women, despite his young age, and pays no attention to girls of his own age.
He brazenly pursues any girl who catches his eye. He shares this trait with his father and paternal grandfather, but this often results in Mom's cruel punishment. The only girl he seems to really like is a college student named Nanako, around whom he becomes shy. Some of his strange activities include dressing up (often as an animal), mooning and drawing an elephant's face on his skin, using his penis as the trunk which he calls him "Mr. Elephant". He also makes trouble for others and then criticizes their efforts in covering for him. In general, he is brutally honest, highly curious, and has no shame whatsoever, which includes getting rid of his clothes at the earliest opportunity. There have been several instances in which his antics actually solved the problems of those around him. He also displays a surprising amount of talent at various activities including kendo and swimming. On rare occasions, he displays bouts of selfless kindness (for example, in one anime episode he saved a frog from a truck on a rainy day, getting all wet and dirty in the process and risking Misae's ire since it was his last set of clean clothes. In another episode, he gives Masao the change he has even though he knows that his mother will scold him later), but these are often immediately followed by antics that negate the goodwill others feel. There are also times when Shin Chan displays a level of maturity beyond his usual self in his concern for others, and in a few rare instances he shows that deep down he really does care for his family, despite his constant disrespect towards them such as one time he truly trusted his family in the movie Crayon Shin-chan: The Storm Called: The Adult Empire Strikes Back as they climbed up a construction building to stop the emperor from sending the world back to the twentieth century
This shows up more often than not in the feature length movies as compared to the regular series episodes. ComicsOne, the first publisher of the English manga, referred to Shin-chan as "The Bart Simpson of Japan."[1]
Misae Nohara (野原 みさえ Nohara Misae) "Mitsy"
Voiced by: Miki Narahashi (Japanese), Cynthia Cranz (English)
The mother of the Nohara family from Kumamoto on the island of Kyūshū. She is 29 years old and a typical housewife of post-war Japan, she cleans, launders, cooks, sews, mothers, and lazes all to varying degrees of success. While at heart a caring and nurturing individual, her positive aspects are often offset by her many shortcomings. A paragon of hypocrisy, after handing out irrevocable edicts to her husband and children, she will not hesitate to immediately break them once they are out of sight. She administers brutal physical and verbal punishment to her relatives, having little patience for their antics.
Her famous and symbolic moves includes "drilling" others' head with her fists (known as "guri-guri") and a series of punches on the head, creating comically large lumps (the punches are mainly thrown by Misae, but other characters have been known to use it as well, such as Hiroshi and even Ne Ne). While she spends as little as possible on the less-essential needs of her husband and son, she loves to splurge on Himawari and herself, though she is noted to have instances of great generosity. She always changes her hair styles as seen it is sometimes curly and sometimes long and shattered hair. Most of her luxury purchases, however, often end up broken, misused or otherwise ruined by her children, sometimes even before she had a chance to try them. She is the source of boundless diet and savings plans, all of which fail within the first week or even first day. She is prone to immediately partake in bargain sales when she sees them, thinking she is saving the family money. She then buys extreme quantities, regardless of the practicality, which defeats the purpose. Additionally she secretly hoards money for her own personal use. She is also known to be a terrible driver. Misae also constantly checks Shin-chan's and Hiroshi's behavior around young women and punishes them accordingly (and always seems to be in the right place at the right time when it comes to the latter)12345
.Himawari Nohara (野原 ひまわり Nohara Himawari) "Hima"
Voiced by: Satomi Kōrogi (Japanese), Colleen Clinkenbeard (English)
The youngest child of the Nohara family, born in 1996. A precocious and vibrant infant. While technically newborn, her character has matured and grown more intelligent during her stay in the series. She possess a palpable lust for shiny objects (jewels and precious metals) and brand-name goods, being able to discern a real jewel from a simple piece of imitation (and throwing away the latter). She emulates her mother in her utterly stubborn pursuit of handsome young men who catch her eye, not unlike her brother, who soon discovered that a way to pacify her was to put on a cutout mask of a known handsome actor. In her family, she is an icon of adoration and annoyance, causing trouble she cannot be blamed for given her infantile innocence. She can be extremely fast crawling, tiring out even Shin-chan, and often uses Shiro as a toy. Her name, which is Japanese for "sunflower", was chosen by the show's viewership and not the creator.
Shiro (シロ Shiro) "Whitey"

A white, fluffy pup Shin-chan found in a cardboard box early in the series. While a beloved member of the family, he is the subject of neglect thanks to his owner's forgetfulness and short attention-span. He is a very intelligent dog, often presenting logic and intellect that surpasses his human owners. As his meals from the Noharas are at best inconsistent, he has developed a talent for foraging, though other times he has to eat Misae's failed culinary experiments. An oddly human-like dog, he is very responsible and painstakingly careful. He takes care of his owners diligently, though often they do not realize his help or understand what he is trying to show them. His doghouse also often ends up becoming a place for Shin-chan to hide himself or something he doesn't want his family to find. He often plays protector to Himawari, more often than not sacrificing his well being in the process.12345

Cars 2 picks up where the original left off with our hero, Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) returning home to Radiator Springs after a lengthy racing season.
The audience are introduced to old favourites from the town including McQueen’s best friend, Mater the rusty tow-truck (Larry the Cable Guy).
A series of events lands McQueen into the Wold Grand Prix which takes him around the Automobile inspired planet, including England, Japan and Italy. However it is not all about racing this time around; the film also introduces us to British spy car, Finn McMissile (Michael Caine) who is on his own mission to track down a criminal mastermind…car.
I liked the way Director John Lasseter introduces real world issues into the film. One of the main plotlines involves Eddie Izzard who voices Sir Miles Axelrod (a reference to Sir Richard Branson) who has invented a new fuel that doesn’t rely on oil to be produced.
Our dependence on fossil fuels is a major issue in the real world today and by addressing it in a film especially a kid’s film I think it helps highlight the problem to a whole new generation.
As much as I enjoyed Cars 2, I felt that it tried to tell too many stories at once (which seems to be the norm for most films these days).
My issue was that it was completely different from the slower journey to self discovery storyline seen in the first Cars movie. I realise that this is a completely different film and Lasseter was going for something bigger and grander but I am a firm believer that in some cases less is more (The mentor in the first film was an old Hudson Hornet and in the new one its an Aston Martin DB5 with a collection of high-tech bells and whistles).
I loved the simplicity of the coming age story in Cars and it still remains one of my top ten favourite films.
Australian V8 Supercar driver Mark Winterbottom makes a cameo appearance as “Frosty” the race car.
Now I’m not saying that Cars 2 isn’t a good movie, far from it. While it might not have the same gripping storyline of its predecessor, it makes up for it in the visuals department. The amount of detail that the folks at Disney and Pixar put into each location around the world is simply amazing. There are literally thousands of individual cars in some of the scenes and it is sometimes easy to forget that there isn’t really a world filled with sentient automobiles.
I was satisfied with Cars 2 and I think it brought something new and exciting to the Disney franchise. Almost all of the characters from the first film make an appearance and the new ones are just as memorable. Even though it’s a kid’s movie, Cars 2 can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. Lasseter should be commended for successfully creating a film that the inner child in all of us can identify with.

SPECIAL FEATURES
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————
While Cars 2 only contains two main featurettes I enjoyed both of them and thought that they were a fitting finish to a great movie. Air Mater and Hawaiian Vacation are two short films released by Disney and Pixar that take the story of Cars and Toy Story a little bit further.
Air Mater is short feature in which Mater gets fitted for his very on set of wings enabling him to fly.
Hawaiian Vacation is a Toy Story short film where the toys give Barbie and Ken the ultimate Hawaiian vacation all from the confines of Sunnyside Day-care.
Putting these shorts at the end of Disney films is a great idea and I only hope that they make a regular occurrence on future Disney releases.
The only criticism I can give the special features is that there were not enough. I would have enjoyed some interviews with the cast or the creative team behind Cars 2.
Disney and Pixar took a gamble with Cars 2, presumably hoping to supercharge a franchise that didn’t quite catch on with audiences when the first film was released. Cars was an entertaining fish-out-of-water story with stunning computer animation and a worthwhile message.
Yet, it was overly Americanized (NASCAR racing doesn’t have the global appeal the script seems to imply) and too predictable to capture hearts in the way that the Toy Story films
For the sequel Disney and Pixar have wisely attempted to avoid the first of those mistakes by making the story international and throwing in references to car races that are given far more value outside the US than those for which Lightning McQueen is supposedly world famous. They also took the ethos of the first film and essentially turned it on its head. In the result the message is more superficial (real friends are willing to become scrap metal to save each other), the story is even more boy-oriented than the first film’s and the innocence of backwater Radiator Springs is replaced with a global espionage adventure featuring guns, explosions, torture and Mater in a women’s toilet.
Speaking of Mater, this is really his film. Lightning McQueen is the reason why the old rust bucket gets to globetrot as part of the World Grand Prix but it’s Mater that gets mistaken for an international spy and thereby falls into most of the dangerous stuff. The result is entertaining, action-packed and energetic nonsense. Parents sensitive about violence might wish to reserve it for when their smallest children get older (I didn’t and mine seemed to enjoy it), but everyone else should get a kick out of it even if it isn’t up to the standards set by Woody and Buzz. At at least the writers can’t be accused of dredging from the same river twice.

"It is clear that someone out there is playing a mischief," says a cyber crime expert, "Either it is Bilawal or one of his friends uploading the song and propagating that it belongs to EK THA TIGER. Or it could also be possible that Bilawal is himself not aware about someone using his name and trying to create confusion amongst audience for EK THA TIGER soundtrack. Either ways, this is simply not done and totally unwarranted."
Having said that, one has to say that regardless of 'Jaaniyan' belonging to EK THA TIGER or not, it is well made composition with good vocals that do catch a listener's attention in its first play itself. However, this may well be a short lived fame for the artists involved since the makers have vehemently denied that 'Jaaniyan' has anything to do with EK THA TIGER.
"No, the song that you have brought into our notice doesn't belong to EK THA TIGER. None of our songs have gone online," confirms the official spokesperson of the film.

The song from Shah Rukh Khan's superhero film RA.One was leaked two days before its official music launch.
Of late, it has become all too common for songs or scenes from films to be leaked online. A few months ago it was the super-hit ‘Chammak Challo’ song from ‘Ra.One’ that made its way to the net before its official music launch. And now it’s been reported that songs of Emraan Hashmi’s forthcoming film ‘Jannat 2’ have also been leaked online.
However, the actor has denied it. "No truth to the rumour about that 'leaked song' on the net, from 'Jannat 2'," Emraan tweeted.
Directed by Kunal Deshmukh, ‘Jannat 2’ is a sequel to the 2008 film ‘Jannat’, based on betting in cricket. The second part will see model Esha Gupta as the female lead opposite Emraan.
Some skeptics say that the entire thing is a ploy adopted by filmmakers to attract attention to their films’ songs. But with Emraan in it, what’s the need to leak songs online to create a controversy? A few kisses would be enough, wouldn’t it.
New Delhi: If there is one banner which knows the art of minting money at the box office in any circumstances, it's Vishesh Films, under the guidance of master producer Mahesh Bhatt.
The champion of low budget thrillers has started the shooting of 'Jannat 2', a sequel to Vishesh Films’ 2008 hit 'Jannat'.
The previous film was directed by Kunal Deshmukh and had Emraan Hashmi and sultry Sonal Chauhan as the lead pair.
IBNLive
The fast paced match fixing story coupled with melodious music led to the commercial success of 'Jannat'.
Previously named as 'Informer', the film is thematically similar to the prequel. 'Jannat 2' is also a story about a single man's immense desire to make it big in life by any means. Arjun Dixit, the character played by Emraan Hashmi in 'Jannat', was a small time gambler turned into a big shot bookie, while this time, 'Jannat 2' will have illegal arms trading in the background.
Known for presenting sexy sirens to the film fraternity, Vishesh Films this time is banking upon the looks of ex Miss India International winner Esha Gupta.
She will play the wife of Emraan Hashmi who has a knack for getting seriously intimate with wives on the silver screen, irrespective of the fact that whose wife is it.
The Bhatt camp had thought about the names of Prachi Desai and Bengali bombshell Paoli Dam too before finalising the ultimate cast but eventually the sensuality race was won by Esha Gupta.
If reports are to be believed than Mahesh Bhatt was backing Paoli Dam for the role while the director Kunal Deshmukh wanted to cast Esha.
The music department will be supervised by Pritam Chakraborty who always seems to be in hurry to come up with chart busters
. Either Pritam always has enough material in his arsenal or he is simply brilliant at creating instant music.
The career of Randeep Hooda is also looking to gain momentum these days. Critical appreciation in 'Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster' has provided some life to his otherwise fading career. 'Jannat 2' will again feature him in a key role and portraying the role satisfactorily can earn him some more films.
Having Fox Star Studios as co-producers, 'Jannat 2' is bound to have a good promotional round as well as nice production values.
Thus a lot will depend on the director Kunal Deshmukh that how he uses the resources at disposal.
Deshmukh has impressed the audiences with his skills in 'Jannat' and 'Tum Mile' and thus movie enthusiasts will be hoping for another good show from him.
However, the film's highlight will primarily be the chemistry rather biological chemistry between Emraan Hashmi and Esha Gupta.
Producer-actor Saif Ali Khan and director Sridhar Raghavan of Agent Vinod, Saif’s home-production, landed in some legal trouble recently. The cast and crew were shooting some crucial scenes from the film in Kuldhara near Jaisalmer, popularly also known as the ghost town of Rajasthan. According to locals the team was shooting in one of the ancient heritage structures without appropriate permissions. Though the team claimed they had the necessary permits. Anyway, what really irked the locals was that they also flouted rules and caused permanent damage to the site by painting the yellow walls in maroon and filling mud in the stone layers of the ancient houses. As a result Saif’s production company Illuminati Films and co-producer Eros International have coughed up Rs 1,00,000 as penalty and Rs 4,00,000 security deposit will be used for restoration of the heritage site. The Agent Vinod team is no longer allowed to shoot at Kuldhara, but can shoot anywhere else in Rajasthan.
Off-late a lot of foreign beauties have been making their debut in Bollywood. Recently, Playboy model Candice Boucher was seen in Aazaan and now yet another South African model Ann Lee Roberts will be seen in Saif Ali Khan's home production 'Agent Vinod'.
It may be recalled that Saif had cast Brazilian beauty Giselli Monteiro in 'Love Aaj Kal' and now he has got Ann Lee for a supporting role in his espionage thriller. Ann Lee has been a model for a leading denim brand and has even an international beauty pageant in Johannesburg.
'Agent Vinod' stars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles. The film is produced by Illuminati Films and directed by Sriram Raghavan. It's likely to release early next year.
Over the last couple of years, Kareena Kapoor has been part of some of the biggest box office hits including 3 Idiots (2009) and Bodyguard (2011). And now, she is hoping that boyfriend Saif Ali Khan’s action extravaganza, Agent Vinod, will join the list. The film releases early next

Ask Kareena about being a part of big hits and she immediately says: “It’s definitely overwhelming. And it’s actually four big hits including Golmaal 3,” says the actor with a smile. “But I want to keep pushing the envelope and aim to continue doing some great work.”
Although Kareena has been a part of back-to-back biggies, she refuses to get into competition mode with other female stars. “I only see the camera. I have always been content in my own space and the only competition I have is with my own performances. I aim to outdo myself with every film. Others can worry about being on top,” she says.
Interestingly, before the Kapoor girl proved her merit, the industry considered only Hema Malini in the hit league, when she delivered back-to-back successes in the 1970s like Sholay, Dus Numbri, Haath Ki Safai, Dream Girl and Sanyasi.
But what Kareena is most excited about is the diverse roles she’s given by filmmakers, and the audience’s acceptance. “I consider myself lucky that 3 idiots is the biggest-ever grosser. Bodyguard had the year’s biggest opening while Golmaal is one of the most popular franchises. So both the diversity and acceptance are very satisfying,” says the actor.

Legal problems aren’t new in Bollywood. But this time it involves Badshah Khan. Shah Rukh Khan's much hyped ‘Don 2' seems to have run into legal trouble. Apparently, the producers of the original ‘Don’ (1978) Nariman Films have sent a legal notice to the makers of ‘Don 2’ over the remaking and title copyright infringement. Nariman Films are the producers of ‘Don’ starring Amitabh Bachchan that was released in 1978. Later, Shah Rukh Khan and Farhan Akhtar approached Nariman Films in 2005 for the remaking rights of ‘Don’. The original producers say that they gave remaking rights but only for ‘Don - The chase Begins Again’ and not for remaking ‘Don-2- The chase continues
Besides, the producers also claim that the agreement expired in 2009, and was never renewed. Hence, Excel Entertainment and Red Chillies have made ‘Don 2, the chase continues’ without having proper rights. They have thus infringed upon the title registered with Nariman Films i.e ‘Don’ and ‘Don-2 - the Return of the King’. So, this is second infringement. Incidentally, ‘Don 2’ is slated to release in the last week of December 2011. Industry circles are very much concerned about the fate of ‘Don2’.

Director Anubhav Sinha Actors Shahrukh Khan Kareena Kapoor Arjun Rampal Armaan Verma Run time 153 minutes Certificate UA Shahrukh Khan s new film Ra One is a tribute and a gift to his own children a superhero version of their father The film stars big actors like Shahrukh Khan Kareena Kapoor Arjun Rampal and a new little actor Armaan Verma Shahrukh plays two roles of Shekhar Subramaniam and G One Kareena plays Shekar s wife and Armaan plays Shekhar s son Prateek Subramaniam The movie starts with Prateek s dream of his game in which he visualizes his father Shahrukh Khan as a superhero He faces many obstacles reaches the stereotypical villain Sanjay Dutt fights with him defeats him and saves the damsel in distress Priyanka Chopra It s when this dream sequence ends that the real story begins The level of humour is no different in the real world - Shahrukh plays a guy who dresses up as Michael Jackson to impress his son eats noodles with curd speaks in a Tamil accent and goes on to design and release an advanced video game His son who is a tech savvy-game crazy youth wishes that his father would design a video game in which the villain is more powerful than the hero The first half of the movie is a visual delight The second half of the movie meanders a bit until Arjun Rampal comes in and lights up the screen Shahrukh Khan fails to maintain his robotic gait The digital team of the movie is to be blamed for it Another factor that works against is that its title Ra One gets its proper footage only in the second half the movie Ra One s character somewhere resembles the Terminator The Ra One- G One face off is something that is worth watching The music of the film is quite entertaining The song Chammak Challo by Akon is a popular chartbuster On the whole Ra One can be described as an assortment of the elements of Robot Toonpur ka Superhero Spiderman Terminator and many such movies As Shahrukh s movies are incomplete without melodrama Karwa Chauth comes into the picture which is not at all required The movie also has Rajnikanth s guest appearance as Chitti which was also a waste as G One was enough to throw the baddies away There are certain dialogues in the movie which are best avoided considering the fact that the movie was promoted as a family entertainer Its visual effects have raised the bar in Bollywood A thumbs up to the digital scene where Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai is shown crumbling to pieces after a local train is taken over by Ra One Kareena Kapoor manages to serve as eye candy and takes her Golmaal gibberish-abusive legacy ahead After all the publicity overdrive the movie definitely does not live up to public expectations At best it can be considered as an average movie and no more than a one-time watch.
